Hello,
I agree with Michele's post. I believe that cell phones and other electronic devices should be turned off in the courtroom. With the exception of allowing the court staff members, lawyers and media bring in electronic devices for business/ trail purposes. Under court policies, (are there policies in place??) juror members should be instructed beforehand that electronic devices are not allowed.

For others, I think a clear written sign outside the courtroom saying "no electronic devices, if caught you will be escorted out by the baliff". On top of that, be fined and/or banned from attending that particular trail. No expections!! . The legal system needs to nip this in the bud now with policies that work across the legal system. Or just say "no" to the use of electronic devices in the courtroom.

There are enough variables for mistrail's in the legal system already.
Good question! I have to agree with Shelly. I am not a practicing attorney but if I were I wouldn't want it going on during any of my cases. I'm going to draw this question to the attention of one of my WISE Women PROS volunteer attorneys and get her input for us.
